For more than three decades, Carlos Zamora has designed, engineered and made fine jewelry in New York — first behind the scenes for other designers and jewelry houses, and today directly for private clients at Couture Jewelry Atelier.
His experience spans traditional craftsmanship, CAD/CAM, jewelry engineering, casting, stone setting and advanced manufacturing, allowing him to understand not only how a piece should look, but how it should be made to last.
It Started at the Bench.
It Never Stopped.
I grew up watching my father make stainless-steel rings by hand with little more than files and sandpaper. It taught me that jewelry is about patience, precision and pride in your work.
I was 21 when I entered the jewelry industry, and from the beginning I wanted to understand every part of it — not just the design, but the engineering, the construction and the craft.
That curiosity has never left me.

For Years, I Worked Behind the Scenes.
Creating for Other Jewelers.
For many years, my work happened behind the scenes.
I helped jewelry designers develop their collections — taking ideas from sketches and concepts and solving the technical challenges required to turn them into finished jewelry.
I also worked on projects involving respected names in fine jewelry, including Jose Hess, Tiffany & Co., David Yurman and Harry Winston.
Some of the designers I worked with went on to build successful businesses and receive industry recognition.
Today, I bring that experience directly to my own clients.
Honoring Tradition.
Embracing Technology.
My foundation is traditional jewelry making, strengthened through training in Italy and Spain.
I was also drawn early to CAD/CAM and computer-controlled manufacturing.
When early CNC equipment was too limited for what I wanted to accomplish, I began modifying the machines.
Eventually, I decided to build one.
For nearly two years, I worked in my garage designing, testing and refining my own CNC machine specifically around the needs of jewelry manufacturing.
Technology should never replace craftsmanship. It should expand what a craftsman is capable of creating.

From the first sketch and CAD model to prototyping, casting, setting and finishing, I remain personally involved throughout the creation of each custom piece.
Because after all these years, I still believe the most important piece of jewelry is the one being made for the person in front of me.
